If you are interested in winter camping, you should bear in mind when planning your trip that some campsites and pitches are only open in the summer season. In the winter sports regions, especially around Christmas and New Year’s Eve, many sites are fully booked. Therefore, it is generally highly recommended to book in advance.

Don’t forget to pack a small folding spade, a broom and some environmentally friendly, salt-free grit. These things can really come in handy.

The right heating

To make your mobile home really cosy in the cold season, it is important to have a well-functioning heating system with an ample supply of gas. To tide you over in an emergency, e.g. if the gas heating fails, having a small ceramic fan heater on board is highly recommended.

Prevent your vehicle from cooling down

When outside temperatures are low, well-insulated vehicles cool down very quickly. To save energy, the use of insulated covers is recommended. Specialist retailers offer insulated covers for all vehicle models in various designs.

Fresh and waste water tanks

Since fresh water tanks are installed inside the vehicles, they do not freeze with continuous heating. Waste water tanks and their supply lines, however, are usually located on the outside of the vehicle. If you do not have a waste water tank heater, you can also protect the pipes with a heating tape.
