DESOLYT® Classic (UD12) offers a chemical-free and environmentally friendly solution for fresh water disinfection in motorhomes, caravans and boats.
It works purely physically without changing the taste of the water. While the water is being drawn from the tank, any germs that may be present are inactivated in the flow-through process by exposure to ultraviolet light. This process is recognised as effective and is also used by municipal water suppliers, for example.
In contrast to many conventional UV lamps, the DESOLYT® Classic does not contain any heavy metals such as mercury. It can be installed by the user and is maintenance-free after installation. The Classic model is not suitable for use with electronically controlled pressure pumps; instead, the Compact model is recommended.
The water is only disinfected after it has been removed from the tank. We therefore recommend regular disinfection of the water tank, preferably with BIOLYSAN tank cleaner, and decalcification for safe operation.
The control electronics are connected to the disinfection unit with a 1.5 m long connection cable. This makes installation particularly easy in confined spaces.
Designed for submersible pumps and pressure pumps with simple pressure switch control, the electronics supply the LEDs with regulated 12 V independently of the on-board voltage, monitor their function and temperature and give optical and acoustic signals in case of malfunctions.
The special LEDs are only activated when the pump is running. As a result, the power consumption is negligible.
Operation of the DESOLYT® Classic requires a stable DC voltage supply. The supply voltage must be within the limits specified in the unit specification. Trouble-free operation is ensured in 12 V systems that have a battery, e.g. in almost all motorhomes as well as in caravans with a self-sufficient package.
Important: Operation on unregulated mains adapters, as sometimes used in caravans without a self-sufficient package (permanent camping, no 12 V battery), leads to malfunctions.
